Really enjoyed the wool museum. Fir 2 people who grew up on farms. We still learnt something. The gentleman running the loom was terrific and easy to talk to. Happy to share his experience and knowledge.
Been here many times with my daughter, I love the place. It's focused mostly around the whole wool industry from the early settler day right up though the various industrial innovations and developments. They have a massive loom in the middle and if you're lucky enough you'll get to see it going! Down stairs they have an area with changing exhibits which can range from kid friendly school holiday stuff, the usual dinosaur exhibits to serious artists and school art displays. I really like it, I think one of my favorite bits is the old home displays you can walk though and check out stuff from various eras. Reasonable fees to get in and friendly staff too!
An amazing, historic place to visit. Carpet making demonstration on a real loom was a highlight. Highly recommended. Only downside was that there wasn't any tartan items to purchase.
The staff were very nice and there is good info in the museum, but it could all do with an update... These days I would have expected more interactive displays - whether by using some technology, or just having a few more people around to demonstrate and explain things.
