I have recently bought a used Diesel Outback. I checked with the local garage who new the vehicle that a recall was necessary. So I booked the car in for a convenient time to me....24th December. I did query the date on the phone as it is Christmas Eve. I was assured that the date was ok and the work would be done. I was told that I would get a text to remind me. On 24th December I had received no text reminder so I rang to enquire about the appointment only to be told that nobody was working today and that I must be booked in New Year's Eve. I waited another week and received no text reminder. I took the car on the 31st December and was greeted with the information that I was not booked in. On further investigation I was told that I was booked in on 24th December. I informed the reception staff about the phone call on that date. They seemed slightly confused but they were not picking up on my frustration. They could not fit me in that day and asked me to come back on 2nd January. I was not happy and I was trying to explain my frustration to them as they seemed uninterested in my situation....caused by them despite my double checking at several points. I brought the vehicle back on the said date early before 8am. I asked if my vehicle could be done first since it was booked in on 24th December and I was told bluntly that it was not likely to be done until after 12pm. No customer service whatsoever!
During my inspection of a Subaru forester i was locked in the boot of the vehicle by the general manager and was not allowed to leave until i agreed to purchase said vehicle. Interesting sales tactic i give 3 stars due to the great suffering i endured however the vehicle is superb and i couldn't be happier.
Haven't actually been there yet but was told 2.5 months before an URGENT (per Subaru's recall letter) safety recall can be done - surely safety recalls should be taken a little more seriously ? Maybe Subaru should hire some more mechanics if they can spare so little time for recalls...
